True Blood Comic Book series?!

IDW and HBO® Announce First Ongoing
True Blood® Comic Series

All-new adventures in the comics based on HBO’s hit show start in spring 2012

[True Blood All Together Now Image]San Diego, CA (October 26, 2011) — Since the first issue launched in July of 2010, the TRUE BLOOD comic books have become one of IDW Publishing’s most popular titles. Fans of the hit HBO show were excited to have new, unique stories featuring their favorite characters. In an effort to give Truebies what they crave – more Sookie, Bill and Eric – continuously through the year, IDW and HBO will launch the first-ever ongoing TRUE BLOOD comic series in spring 2012, featuring new series installments each month.

“The comics are a great way to continue telling True Blood stories off screen,” said show creator, Alan Ball. “With this new ongoing series, Truebies will be able to find a new comic in stores every month. We’ll also have even more room to create in-depth drama and further explore the world of Bon Temps.”

Added IDW chief operations officer, Greg Goldstein, “IDW could not be happier than to move to this next step with our HBO partners. Since we originally launched TRUE BLOOD comics in 2010, fans have been asking for an ongoing series, and we’re happy to be able to work with HBO and offer it.”
[True Blood Tainted Love]
Following on the success of the New York Times best-selling first comic collection, TRUE BLOOD: ALL TOGETHER NOW, IDW and HBO launched the second edition TRUE BLOOD: TAINTED LOVE. In this twisted tale, co-written by True Blood actor Michael McMillian and comic mainstay Marc Andreyko, Jessica is exposed to contaminated bottles of Tru Blood, causing the lovely vampire to go berserk. It’s up to Sookie, Bill, Eric and the rest of the Bon Temps gang to figure out who (or what) is behind the bad Blood. Plus, Reverend Newlin is back and as always in the world of True Blood, things are not as they seem. Both TRUE BLOOD: ALL TOGETHER NOW and TRUE BLOOD: TAINTED LOVE are currently available in comic and book stores, and through the Apple iTunes and iBooks stores.

IDW’s third TRUE BLOOD comic series, TRUE BLOOD: THE FRENCH QUARTER is a monthly comic series currently available in stores and will be available as a collection in March 2012. THE FRENCH QUARTER finds Sookie and Eric in New Orleans tracking a killer, whom Eric and Godric thought they killed in Paris more than 200 years ago, while Bill is in town investigating a local Hep-D outbreak that may be connected to the killer’s latest victims. Meanwhile, back in Bon Temps, Trubies will wonder why Pam is hanging out at Merlotte's and what it is she wants with Lafayette.

Dark Horse Spiderman x New York Comic Con

DARK HORSE UNVEILS THE 2011

NEW YORK COMIC CON EXCLUSIVE

MARVEL SPIDER-MAN SYROCO!

SEPTEMBER 28, MILWAUKIE, OR—As part of the Marvel Syrocos program that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con International in July, it is announced today that Dark Horse will be releasing another exclusive Spider-Man statue for New York Comic Con!

New York Comic Con attendees will have a very significant opportunity to acquire a special statue released just for the show. Much like the previously released and long-sold-out SDCC exclusive, a very limited number of this statuette is being offered. It is packaged in the same litho-printed tin box that is the hallmark of the Dark Horse Syrocos, and is destined to be a bona fide hot item, both at the show and far beyond the exhibit hall. It will be sold at the normal retail price of $49.99, with a limit of four per customer.

“We wanted to evoke New York with our very special exclusive Spider-Man,” said Dark Horse’s VP of Product Development, David Scroggy. “Unfortunately, space constraints made a rooftop water tower or fire escape impossible, but we still hope fans can sense the city in this piece.”

The Marvel Syrocos program kicked off earlier this month with two alternating series: Classic Marvel Characters and the Fantastic Four. This new line will be deliberately different than the common modern Marvel collectible sculpture, with features like a rougher surface texture, visible seam lines, and other slightly distressed aspects, such as the method of paint application.

These special New York Comic Con exclusives will be available at four p.m. on Thursday, October 13. Don’t miss your chance to own one of these fantastic statues!

Pantheon Books at NYCC!

I for one cant wait for Comic Con, its going to be HUGEEE! October. Another couple of weeks, I can count on one hand, its here people.

Get your passes ready!

I have just received word that Pantheon Books will there!

Pantheon Books will be at this year’s New York ComicCon (October 14-16, plus preview night on October 13), and we would love to see you there. Our booth is #1041.

AUTHORS:

We have two authors joining us at our NYCC booth this year: Dash Shaw/BODYWORLD (Pantheon) and Colson Whitehead/ZONE ONE (Doubleday, going onsale 10/18).

BOOKS:

WORD bookstore will be at our booth selling a healthy selection of Pantheon graphic novel favorites, including two of our biggest new releases by incredibly talented artists: Craig Thompson’s HABIBI (Pantheon, 9/7) and Art Spiegelman’s METAMAUS: Inside a Modern Classic, Maus (Pantheon, 10/4). These are destined to be Pantheon Books classics, so be sure to ask us about them at the booth. Buttons inspired by each title will be on hand for giveaway, as well, in addition to gorgeous posters (attached) specially designed by Craig Thompson for ComicCon. Also available for sale at the convention will be Glen Duncan’s THE LAST WEREWOLF (Knopf), a hit new novel that was all the rage in San Diego this past summer.

GIVEAWAYS & OTHER PERKS:

Of all the possible giveaways at ComicCon, I bet you’ve never received a pair of women’s panties. Nearly a year before its onsale date, UNTERZAKHN by Leela Corman (Schocken, going onsale 3/20/12) was already the hit of San Diego ComicCon in July, where we were giving out panties with the word “unterzakhn” (Yiddish for “beneath the surface,” aka “underwear”) on them. Robot6 and other blogs covered the unique giveaway item (see attached for pics from SDCC), and the panties will be handed out (in a limited quantity) throughout NYCC. Corman, who moonlights as a professional belly dancer, has illustrated books on subjects ranging from urban gardening to the history of the skirt, and her work has also appeared in the New York Times and on WNET/Thirteen. For more on Corman and the new book, go to http://leelacorman.com/.

Mystery freebies! Author of 31 books, Anne Rice’s latest THE WOLF GIFT (Knopf, out next year) will make an appearance in some sort of a giveaway item during the convention. www.annerice.com. Also having a presence at the booth is Ben Marcus’ THE FLAME ALPHABET (Knopf, 1/17/12), and the giveaway will be as unique as his startling new novel. http://benmarcus.com

Pose with Lisbeth! The spectacularly successful Stieg Larsson/THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (Alfred A. Knopf) trilogy is coming to NYCC. This year at the Pantheon booth, you can pose next to a poster of Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s novels.

Finally, NYCC is your exclusive chance to get a sneak peak at what Chris Ware has been working on (his next book with Pantheon, fall 2012). Stop by the booth to get your first glimpse.

Showtime wants "The Damned" to be on TV!

Im not sure, if you guys know about the Damned.

The Damned will focus on a cursed man named Eddie who must navigate a battle between warring Chicago gangsters who also happen to be actual demons.

The original comic was set during the Prohibition, but Deadline's story says that the series will be set in modern day.....

Now that is a problem. We already have many modern day ideas and are bring the old back, but this one should stay in the 30s era.

Now, I cant wait to see about who will play the main role. Please, someone with a little monotone and maybe lots of facial expressions. (Maybe David Boreanaz?) That would be a kick.

BREAKING NEWS: DC Comics promises to hire more Women

Happy August 1st!
Does anyone remember the long time reader outrage over the lack of many women in the comic book industry and especially in DC Comics.

Well it has reached its height.

The petition was at change.org protesting against the lowly numbers of women writers and illustrators!

DC has said:
"We're committed to telling diverse stories with a diverse point of view," they said. "We want these adventures to resonate in the real world, reflecting the experiences of our diverse readership. Can we improve on that? We always can – and aim to." DiDio and Lee promised "exciting news about new projects with women creators in the coming months", adding that "we know there are dozens of other women creators and we welcome the opportunity to work with them".

I hope this means an overall change in this industry. I know voice actors and those who have their job has worked hard to get that job and keep it. But no matter if the audience is male or female, equal opportunity should be given. And different points of views is always an interesting outlook on brainstorming ideas.

~Kaye Beeh

(I will posting more anime/comic stories and ideas in the future) I have been solely focused on fashion and lifestyle but its time i drift a little back into my roots.)

Gaiman v. T. McFarlane done.

Neil Gaiman's exorbatant legal battle over royalties with three characters in Todd McFarlane's Spawn comic series ends. For those who do not know who Gaiman is go crawl from under a rock, he created Coraline and other stories.

A U.S. District Court judge has ruled that Gaiman is due royalties from the Dark Ages Spawn character as well as the female angel characters, Domina and Tiffany.

So Todd McFarlane has to pay up how much he has earned about the Spawn comic series including apparel and all accessories.

Oh Todd McFarlane even invited Gaiman years ago to help out with the creation. And other characters such as D and T appear just like Gaiman's own.

Oh Todd, nice try and better luck. Gaiman congrats and dont be a horse. But Kaye has love for you guys.

Best Wishes and bitching,

Bieber-mania sky rockets into Comic World.

According to Independent UK, The book, Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story, published by Harper Collins will be illustrated. It is due out October 22, around the same time as a comic book biography, Fame: Justin Bieber. Bluewater Productions, which also did comic books on Robert Pattinson and Lady Gaga, will retail the 32-page issue for $3.99 at comic book shops and online.

The comic book is supposed to be just like his upcoming bioflick , his internet stardom to world wide singing sensation and fame.

The comic book writer, Tara Broeckel Ooten, believes Bieber will craft a long musical career. "I'm reminded of the stories my mom tells about when she was young and Beatlemania invaded the United States," she told Comic Book Resources.

Oh my gosh, are you for real?
I for one am not shocked, this was bound to happen as now genres and industries are all starting to mix.

Do you think little boys would want to read a Justin Bieber Comic book? I know I would not but it is what you guys think and want. It is always for the consumer. I guess the girls will get into comics more now? Doubt it. If they wanted to before, Bieber will definitely make them now. Sound off below.

Marvel Anime Heads to G4

Marvel so MAJOR!

Marvel reveals that there will a 3-D Thor (and possibly Captain America :DDD)

Director Kenneth Branagh or Mr. Branagh has said:
"We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience."

Hmmm, this sounds exciting and interesting to see movie magic go 3-D. (If anything compares to my EPIC Spy Kids 3-D experience, i love 3-D.)

For those going to San Diego Comic Con, it will debut during next weekend. If you see parts or anything, I need insider info! :)
